Cloth Diaper update

So you know all those cool newborn cloth diapers I made? Yeah, cant use a single one of them. Let me start by saying its a little pointless to even try cloth diapers until the cord stump falls off. So the diapers look great but some downfalls have come up. First off, the waist is way too tight. I followed the recommended measurements. Next, the leg hols are too big. Even if the diaper just got wet it would probably just leak right out. Along with that, cloth diapers (or any diaper for that matter) are pointless without gussets. What are those you ask? They are the elastic "wings" inside the lag hols that help hold everything in. Most of my diapers don't have them. I say most because I did end up making a cover with gussets. I love them!! Why did I ever think pocket diapers were a good idea?? Not to mention all the diapers with flannel take FOREVER to dry. So I am going to be in the process of making more covers and I am going to switch to Velcro closures instead of snaps. And I am going to stop using flannel. But so far I LOVE using my covers! And I only have 3 at the moment and they last me the whole day!! I also see now why people wash the diapers ever couple days or so. The washer is basically empty when washing a days worth of diapers. So I think its all going to work out just fine over all. And hubby has no complaints about using cloth. With that being said, he has yet to change a diaper on this kid. In due time dear, in due time...
